packforapurposeAt Villa Verano, we appreciate being welcomed into the local communities of Hopkins and Sittee River Village.  As in any community, there are needs and working together with the villages we hope to contribute in a meaningful and effective way.  We are proud members of Pack for a Purpose, an initiative that allows travelers like you to make a lasting impact in the community at your travel destination.  If you save just a few kilos or pounds of space in your suitcase and bring supplies for area schools or medical clinics in need, you’ll make a priceless impact in the lives of our local children and families.

The primary school of Hopkins Village, Holy Family R.C., is open to the public and managed by the Catholic Church.  The school is run on a limited budget and quite often the students and classrooms are in need of basic school supplies.  Additionally, an ongoing fundraising project of the school is to have a fully equipped computer lab for the students so computer and Internet skills can be taught from an early age.  Please click here to see what supplies are needed for our educational project.

The Hopkins branch of the Belize Humane Society (HBHS) is another worthy association we support. Although it’s well established, on-going support is necessary and much appreciated.  Throughout the year, Villa Verano offers free housing to visiting veterinary teams; however other needs, such as supplies and medicine, are areas in which our guests can participate.  Please click here to see what supplies are needed for our animal humane project.

Please visit their website www.hopkinsbelizehumanesociety.com

In addition to “Pack for a Purpose”, throughout the year Villa Verano continually supports community programs and events such as the Cleaner Beach Project, primary and high school fundraisers, annual Garifuna pageant, Mango Festival and Hopkins Day. Any supplies or financial contributions you may want to share may be left with our front desk.  We’d be happy to talk with you prior to your arrival and discuss philanthropic opportunities locally and nationally.
