Belize Fly Fishing Vacations

The unique shallow reefs offshore Villa Verano provides for world class “spot and stalk” permit fishing. Targeting, on average, seven to twelve fish per day. Sizes range from 5 to 25 pounds. Best dates to fish are 4-5 days prior to the full moon as this allows for higher and longer tides, which is critical to the permits eating pattern.

Ideally, pairs of 4-6 fisherman target permit in the morning along with bonefish and tarpon. Trolling a buck tail fly for an hour after the “stalk”, will usually result in a dinner entrée of Barracuda, Mackerel, Snapper, Grouper or the like.

All of the guides are highly trained and most have “cut their teeth” guiding for the world renowned Lincoln Westby.

You are picked up at the beach in front of Villa Verano and are fishing within half an hour. If you are so lucky as to time your trip around the double high tide you will return late in the morning for lunch and a relaxing day around the pool. Later in the day you may return to the reef to catch the later high tide and hopefully….another Permit!

The fishing package includes a qualified and extremely competent guide, panga, fuel and lunch for the day. Fishermen are required to bring their own gear.
